Have you thought about giving baitcasting a try, but have been held back by how complicated it seems? What I have learned is that if you receive proper instruction, you can overcome those concerns. In my research I found an excellent video on the correct use of  a baitcasting reel by The Fishin’ Pastor.

In this video the Fishin’ Pastor explains each of the components of a baitcasting reel. He describes in detail the drag, the tension spool knob, release button, spool and the brake.  After he describes each and shows where each is located on the reel, he methodically explains his recommended settings and demonstrates how to do each setting for each component. In particular, he explains the set up for the tension spool knob and the brake so that you can avoid those nasty bird nests.
