SIX OF THE BEST: BASIC GOLF SWING TIPS
By: Ed Greenland
The golf swing is about fundamentals. If you are just now or have recently started to play golf, it is imperative that you learn the golf swing correctly from the outset. If unfortunately you have developed some poor swing habits, all is not lost. This article by Ed Greenland breaks down the golf swing into its component parts and explains in detail how each should be practiced, grooved and executed.
The golf swing is comprised for several stages, each of which must be learned and repeated until each has been mastered. These stages are the set up, the takeaway, the backswing, impact and the follow through to finish. This article then describes each step to each stage of the golf swing very descriptively and augments each stage’s description with clear photographs. In addition we suggest that you practice what you have learned on a quiet section of the practice range tees. Practice as if you are on the course and aim for specific targets. Take your time and avoid just bashing out balls one after another. In other words, practice golf with the same rhythm that you play on the course.
This article describes a fundamentally sound golf swing. If you follow and master its guidelines you can build a repeatable golf swing that you can depend on when you must drive the ball onto a narrow fairway or carry an approach shot over water. Remember that a repeatable golf swing builds confidence and a confident swing means consistent shot making!
